Whitcomb Homestead is the shared vision behind a growing group of family ventures and agricultural projects. We are working toward a productive homestead where responsible land stewardship, regenerative agriculture, useful businesses, and family opportunity strengthen one another over time.

This is a journey, not a finished picture. Some ventures are already operating while others are still taking shape. We are building each piece deliberately—learning, adapting, pursuing land and partnerships, and creating systems meant to last rather than simply grow quickly.

It Started With Chickens

Small beginnings, a larger idea.

Backyard chicken keeping was where this journey really began to take shape.

What started with the simple enjoyment of keeping our own flock quickly became something we wanted to share with other people. We saw how rewarding backyard chickens could be—not just for fresh eggs, but for the connection, responsibility, learning, and everyday enjoyment that comes with caring for them.

That experience became the reason we started C&K Roost Co.: to help bring the joy of backyard chicken keeping to more families by pairing practical poultry products with clear, useful education.

From there, the vision kept expanding. What began with chickens grew into a larger idea about food, livestock, land stewardship, family businesses, and eventually Whitcomb Homestead itself.

The Homestead Vision

We are working toward a productive family homestead where land, livestock, food production, useful businesses, and family opportunity support one another as parts of the same larger system.

Regenerative agriculture is central to that vision. As the farm develops, our goal is to use thoughtful livestock management, rotational grazing, responsible land stewardship, and practical infrastructure to improve the land while producing high-quality local food.

We are not there yet. The permanent farm property and many of the production systems are still ahead of us. This website will follow that journey honestly as each piece moves from plan, to project, to reality.

We want to build something that serves our family now while creating real opportunity for the generations that follow and contributing something useful to the community around us. That means more than owning land or starting businesses. It means creating useful work, productive assets, practical knowledge, local food, and systems that can be taught, improved, and carried forward.

Our goal is to build ventures that do not depend forever on one person doing everything. Over time, they should become organized, documented, and resilient enough to be managed by family members or other capable people while still preserving the values and purpose behind them.
